A Move over law is a law which requires motorists to move over and change lanes to give safe clearance to law enforcement officers on roadsides. Forty three U.S. states have passed “Move Over” laws, which were created in response to officer roadside fatalities in the line of duty.

Most Move Over laws require drivers to move over or slow down for emergency vehicles with their lights flashing. This includes police cruisers, Sheriff's or Highway Patrol vehicles, fire trucks and ambulances.

Currently Connecticut, Hawaii, and Nebraska are the only states, as well as Washington, D.C., that do not have a "Move Over" law. On June 17, 2009, Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell signed House Bill 5894, establishing a Move Over requirement in the state. Connecticut's Move Over law takes effect on October 1, 2009.

IN DESPERATE NEED OF HELP!!! Georgia's "Move Over Law"??? AM I GUILTY???
Q. At about 10:00pm on a saturday night I was traveling South on I-85 about to exit off of Beaver Ruin Road. On the far right shoulder an officer had a vehicle pulled over. Being that I was getting off on the exit coming up I was already driving far under the posted speed limit, so I stayed in the right lane closest to the officer and proceeded with caution. As I was exiting the freeway, I was pulled over by an officer who told me that I failed to abide by the "Move Over Law". For those that dont know, the move over law states that when an emergency vehicle is on the side of the road, drivers must move over one lane if possible. If traffic is too congested or it is an unsafe situation for the driver to merge into the next lane over, the law… [cont.]

A. From what you have stated above, unless the traffic was too heavy (one car does not equal "heavy" traffic) or there was and "unsafe" reason you did not merger over into the next lane over, you are are guilty of violating the law. Under the law, you have the right to ask for your day in Court; however, that could end up being 6 months to 2 years down the line and taking time of work for several Court appearances (the first appearance will be the pleading where you plead not Guilty, the next one will be the Court date where the police officer is allowed a no-show on the first date, then there could be several Court continuances due to the Court not having time to hear your case if other more pressing matters, such as criminal cases, clog… [cont.]

Is it possible to legally relocate to United Kingdom without a job supporting your move?
Q. Meaning...I am looking to possibly move to the UK because my boyfriend lives there. I obviously would not be relocating for my job and we would not be engaged to get married. Everything that I have been able to read about relocation to another country speaks to the issue of moving over to be with with your fiance, and even then the rules seem to stipulate that you have six months to get married. Is it possible to just decide that you want to move to another country to live? I am guessing work would be impossible. We may get engaged in the future however not immediately and certainly not within the six month period required by law. Has anyone ever done this and/or dealt with making this type of move. Although it seems fairly hopeless and I… [cont.]
