What is a cheap way to get from Nepal, through Tibet and into China?
Q. We are planning to travel next March - May from India to Nepal, and then on into China via Tibet. It seems you can only go through tibet if you have a group visa, so you have to do a group tour, and these are very expensive!!! Does anyone know of a cheap way to travel through Tibet, or details of some cheap group tours to get there? Please let us know any good websites/tour leaders!

How long does it take to get passport from Nepal after a Chinese lady marries a Nepali?
Q. How difficult is it to complete the legal aspects of marriage, and get a Nepali citizenship and passport. Or, is it wise to use existing Chinese passport instead even after marriage. Any idea, how long does it take? Practical answers please. Thanks Additional Details Can we start the process in Nepal before we officially get married?

A. It takes forever, keep using your existing passport if you are in a hurry. You can apply for passport after marriage but there are lots of administrative messes. Keep using existing passport until you get Nepali passport.

Learn more about Dashain here: You could go to Kathmandu since it's the capital and most of the hindu temples are located there. or maybe Pokhara or Lumbini. But everywhere you go, people will surely welcome you. Well good luck with your trip. [:

A. you could enter Tibet from Nepal. Take a plane to Lahsa and then you could choose either train or flight to Beijing. I recomend you to take the train for it's cheaper and nicer with the landscape. By railway,it takes 48 hrs with the price of 1000 RMBmax. By Air,for about 6 hrs with 3000RMB. check it out : www.elong.com

Who was the first person from Brittian or another imperial power to reach Nepal?
Q. What happened and when? And who was in power in Nepal at the time?
Asked by Cathy :) - Tue Dec 12 09:15:14 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Not sure whether he was the first, but my great, great, great uncle, William Adolphus Dungle visited what is now Nepal during the Anglo-Nepalese War. He was a member of the British East India Company. He fought gallantly in a number of the campaigns but was severely wounded when he was hit in the face by a barrage of chapattis which were fired off in a cannon when the Nepalese had run out of ammunition. Hope this helps.

How to save King Gyanendra and the Monarchy in Nepal? Any idea?
Q. Monarchy is associated with Nepal's identity, history, culture and national independence. A proxy war is being fought in Nepal to get rid of this important institution and colonise Nepal as part of India. Nepal's hydropower, Himalayas and its strategic location to contain China are the motivating factors.

A. Monarchy is on the way out thrugh out the world.Monarchy is being replaced by democracy. You cannot go back.Nepal,Sikkim Bhutan ,out of the three Sikkim is now part of India,With Nepal going democratic, the only monarchy left in Asia will be Bhutan. You cannot save King Gyanendra,he lived a lavish life, was unconcerned with life of the people. He squandered liberal aid received from India. What is happening is that democracy is not going to stay in Nepal. The communist,Maoists are getting upper hand in administration and China may ultimately annex Nepal, like Tibet. As India is neither vigliant and unconcerned with happenings in Nepal and Myanmar,China may take over these countries and establish Chinese domination inAsia.Hindu culture prevailing… [cont.]

How much weight can i carry from US to Nepal via Gulf Air?
Q. I am going to Nepal. My route is US to London to Bahrain to Kathmandu. I heard that there is drastical reduction of weight we can carry while travelling. Can any one please tell me how much weight I can carry in my laugage and in-carry bag.
Asked by Amit S - Sun Dec 10 14:36:23 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Gulf Air allows 2 bags, each weighing about 22kg - 50 lbs. Gulf Air doesn't fly to the US, so be sure to check the weight limits of whatever airline they partner with though as that's where the limits may change. Carry on bag I think is about 8kg. I fly Gulf Air all the time and I have never had them weigh it, so I imagine you'll be pretty safe if you exceed that limit.
