In academic philosophy the word has a more specialized meaning, being contrasted with essence, which specifies different forms of existence as well as different identity conditions for objects and properties. Philosophers investigate questions such as "What exists?" "How do we know?" "To what extent are the senses a reliable guide to existence?" "What is the meaning, if any, of assertions of the existence of categories, ideas, and abstractions?" Ontology is the philosophical study of the nature of being, existence or reality in general, as well as of the basic categories of being and their relations. Traditionally listed as a part of the major branch of philosophy known as metaphysics, ontology deals with questions concerning what entities exist or can be said to exist, and how such entities can be grouped, related within a hierarchy, and subdivided according to similarities and differences. Epistemology studies criteria of truth, defining "primary truths" inherently accepted in the investigation of knowledge. The first is existence. It is inherent in every analysis. Its self-evident, a priori nature cannot be consistently doubted, since a person objecting to existence according to some standard of proof must implicitly accept the standard's existence as a premise. Materialism holds that the only thing that exists is matter, that all things are composed of material, and all phenomena (including consciousness) are the result of material interactions. In other words, matter is the only substance. Supernaturalism, on the other hand, holds that other things exist (or may exist) in addition. Life is a characteristic that distinguishes objects that have self-sustaining biological processes that exist from those that do not —either because such functions have ceased (death), or else because they lack such functions and are classified as "inanimate". Answered by Dr. Prunesquallor - Sat Nov 14 03:44:04 2009 How to reinstall the program which is already existed? Q. I've formatted my computer and the whole installation registry in hard disk C had been removed. Apparently for some programs which I've located in other local hard disk are still existed with their respective files. But when I tried to run the program, it seemed that the program 'is not installed' yet, which I assume it's registry in the system has been removed. So, what is the alternative way to do without reinstall it via installer or cd? how to reset the registry? Asked by !!+_[Iwa]+_!! - Thu Jan 14 10:33:48 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. I'm not sure if I understand correctly, but from what I get out of your question, you have programs on other disk drives that you want to reinstall but can't because the computer thinks it's not there, just the files are... You might try a couple of things depending on what you have. If you still have the CD's, use Revo Uninstaller, something another yahoo answers person showed me, to uninstall it completely so that the computer isn't confused. It'll remove all files and the registry data for it. "hunter mode" is the easiest with that program, as long as you make sure you uninstall the right thing. Or, if the computer recognizes that drive as the primary drive, possibly through Add/Remove programs in the control panel, you would be… [cont.] Answered by bluebruno2007 - Thu Jan 14 11:58:17 2010 Have humans always existed and were just made manifest to creation and the Holy Spirit?
Q. I think that the human soul has always existed, but our physical body and mentality did not. Is it possible that human souls were dormant souls for eternty, but then God makes all souls manifest to creation when the soul is instilled upon each human body? The power of the souls then becomes active. Asked by Aaron - Thu Aug 6 14:53:00 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Once there is life, there is a soul, even at conception life begins We are each unique, our own spiritual entity. This is Gods design. We only get to borrow this fleshly shell for a time, and then the soul will go on in another life with God or without, according to the way he or she overcomes the temptations of this earthly life. Although I do know according to scripture that God knows us even when in the woom, even to the # of hairs on our heads. god even knows if we will choose Him or not. I am never without utter amazement at what an Awsome God He is. peace your friend Answered by sunshine - Thu Aug 6 15:06:52 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "existed" Meredith Clark: HBCUs fill in the gaps in education system
